Rose Apple Pie

This pie is a piece of art – it is very decorative and I always enjoy making it. I am pretty sure it is the dessert I made the most. Once you try this recipe and get a hang of it, it will also become your go to. Perfect to serve to your guests, to make for a special occasion, or bring it as a gift to your next gathering.

Pastry Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 100g sugar
  • 100 ml oil
  • 300g flour
  • 1 bag or 8 grams baking powder
  • mold (about 28cm)

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients except flour with an electric mixer.
  2. Add in flour.
  3. Rest the dough in fridge for 20 minutes

Filling Ingredients:

  • 500 ml milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 70g sugar
  • 100 ml milk
  • 1 vanilla sugar or 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 bigger or two smaller apples
  • powder sugar to sprinkle

Instructions:

  1. Bring 300ml of milk slowly to boil.
  2. Mix eggs, sugar, remaining milk, vanilla sugar and cornstarch in a separate bowl.
  3. Pour the mixture in the boiling milk and mix until the filling thickens.
  4. Put away to cool down.
  5. Style the Pie by spreading the dough onto the 28cm bottom and edges of the pan (ensure you grease and flour the pan before)
  6. Pour and spread the filling.
  7. Cut the apple in half, start peeling it with a peeler into thin slices.
  8. Arrange slices starting the edges of the pan, in circles to make a flower shape.
  9. Warm up the oven to 390 degrees and bake for 25 minutes.
  10.  After the pie cools down, sprinkle it with powdered sugar and serve. Buon appetito!
