Irish Soda Bread

Irish Soda Bread is a classic, hearty treat—perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or anytime you’re craving something comforting. I don’t usually make doughy desserts, but in the spirit of the holiday, I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised! It’s easy to make with just a few simple ingredients and adds a traditional touch to any meal. Serve it warm with butter and jam for an extra treat.

Ingredients: 

  • 480g (4 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 5g (1 tsp) baking soda
  • 5g (1 tsp) salt
  • 50g (1/4 cup) sugar
  • 415ml (1 3/4 cups) buttermilk
 
 Instructions: 
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  3. Gradually add buttermilk and stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead lightly, shape the dough into a round loaf, and score the top.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes or until golden brown.
