Black Cherry Pie

Hello there, everyone. I recently finished the last slice of the cherry pie I made for my birthday earlier this week and thought it might be a good time to share the recipe. The pie has a light texture, and the sour dark cherries give it a distinct flavor. If you’re interested in trying something different for your guests this summer, you can give this recipe a shot. I loved this treat growing up and it’s now my daughter’s favorite!

Just a heads up, dark cherries are not something you can buy at any store, but I found them at Mariano’s, and you might find them at Jewel Osco, Whole Foods, or Trader Joe’s as well.

Ingredients:
    •    4 eggs
    •    15 tablespoons of sugar
    •    20 tablespoons of flour
    •    1 bag/8 grams of baking powder
    •    2/3 cup oil
    •    2/3 cup milk
    •    1 bag of frozen dark cherries
    •    Powdered sugar for sprinkling

Instructions:
    1.    Beat the eggs and sugar together using an electric mixer until they become fluffy.
    2.    Sift in the flour and baking powder.
    3.    Add the oil and milk, and mix everything until well incorporated.
    4.    In a separate bowl, mix the frozen dark cherries with 2-3 tablespoons of flour.
    5.    Preheat the oven to 375F.
    6.    Grease a rectangular pan and pour in the batter. Add the cherries evenly.
    7.    Bake for 20-30 minutes or until it turns golden.
    8.    Let it cool down, then cut it into squares and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Enjoy your treat! 💗
