This is a very simple, gluten-free chocolate cake that I paired with candied orange slices. The name itself was very inviting to me as Vienna is one of my all time favorite cities I visited so far! I made this delicious dessert for the first time recently for my holiday/housewarming party and my guests were all delighted. I took this version from Youtube channel “Jednostavna Kuhinja” and adapted it for my friends who have dietary restrictions. So see the recipe below:

Ingredients (biscuit):

  • 6 eggs
  • 1 vanilla sugar
  • 6 spoons of sugar
  • 100ml oil
  • 100 ml milk
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2-3 tablespoons almond flour
  • 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 1 baking powder

Instructions:

  1. Separate yolk from egg whites. Beat the egg whites and gradually add granulated and vanilla sugar or extract.
  2. Add Yolk one by one and mix. Add oil, milk, flour & cornstarch, cocoa powder, baking powder and beat on low speed until combined.
  3. Lightly oil the rectangular pan (dimensions about 20cmx30cm) and pour in the mixture.
  4. Bake the cake at 355F for 20 minutes and while itโ€™s cooling make the chocolate ganache.

Ingredients (ganache):

  • 300gr dark chocolate chips
  • 500ml heavy whipping cream

Instructions:

  1. Warm the whipping cream in the microwave or on the stove. It should be very hot. Pour in the chocolate chips and start stirring until all the chocolate melts.
  2. Pour the hot chocolate over the biscuit while itโ€™s still warm. Let cool down to room temperature fully, then refrigerate. Cut the dessert into cubes and enjoy.
