This is a very simple, gluten-free chocolate cake that I paired with candied orange slices. The name itself was very inviting to me as Vienna is one of my all time favorite cities I visited so far! I made this delicious dessert for the first time recently for my holiday/housewarming party and my guests were all delighted. I took this version from Youtube channel “Jednostavna Kuhinja” and adapted it for my friends who have dietary restrictions. So see the recipe below:
Ingredients (biscuit):
- 6 eggs
- 1 vanilla sugar
- 6 spoons of sugar
- 100ml oil
- 100 ml milk
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2-3 tablespoons almond flour
- 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 1 baking powder
Instructions:
- Separate yolk from egg whites. Beat the egg whites and gradually add granulated and vanilla sugar or extract.
- Add Yolk one by one and mix. Add oil, milk, flour & cornstarch, cocoa powder, baking powder and beat on low speed until combined.
- Lightly oil the rectangular pan (dimensions about 20cmx30cm) and pour in the mixture.
- Bake the cake at 355F for 20 minutes and while itβs cooling make the chocolate ganache.
Ingredients (ganache):
- 300gr dark chocolate chips
- 500ml heavy whipping cream
Instructions:
- Warm the whipping cream in the microwave or on the stove. It should be very hot. Pour in the chocolate chips and start stirring until all the chocolate melts.
- Pour the hot chocolate over the biscuit while itβs still warm. Let cool down to room temperature fully, then refrigerate. Cut the dessert into cubes and enjoy.
